Breath of Fire

Here's the weapon list, sorted by the game's internal ordering, which is usually fairly logical as well. I use the following shorthand throughout the page:


Elemental bonuses increase damage by 50% against the appropriate targets and do not stack with each other. For example, if you're using a weapon that is both Holy and Fire against an undead (weak against both) enemy, the damage bonus is 50% and no more.

Damage Types
Holy This weapon has a flag set that gives bonus damage mostly against undead and spirit enemies.
Fire This weapon has a flag set that gives bonus damage mostly against undead and other flammable enemies.
Ice This weapon has a flag set that gives bonus damage mostly against fiery enemies.
Jolt This weapon has a flag set that gives bonus damage mostly against amorphous and aquatic enemies.
Dark This weapon has a flag set that gives bonus damage mostly against enemies with "divine" power.
Spear This weapon has a flag set that appears to give bonus damage only on the two enemies that are weak against all elements.
Projectile This weapon has a flag set that gives bonus damage mostly against flying enemies.
Crush This weapon has a flag set that gives bonus damage mostly against hard-shelled enemies.

Some weapons will cast spells when used as items. These will function as the normal spells do, but cost nothing and ignore elemental traits. Additionally, the weapons are not consumed, so you can use them repeatedly, once per weapon per round of combat. Anyone can use these weapons like this, not just the characters who can equip them.

Not an exact translation, but the Japanese 山刀 (yama gatana, "woodsman's hatchet" in some dictionaries, or more literally "mountain katana") is roughly equivalent to a machete. It's not an axe, as using the word "hatchet" would suggest.

反り身 (sorimi) refers to thrusting one's chest out proudly, or to a shape reminiscent of that. A scythe sort of has that shape, but this is still a sword, and I'd expect to find the sharp edge on the outside of the curve, rather than on the inside like a scythe.

Not bad for being broken. Excessively heavy, though.

The sword cannot be repaired. However, Novalia Spirit has discovered a ridiculously obscure easter egg involving it. If Ryu has the sword equipped when fighting the final boss, and the player fulfils the conditions for the good ending, then Chun-Li will make another cameo appearance. Yeesh!
