Some have reactions to being physically attacked, which could potentially trigger when unhatched, except that unless the attack misses completely (very rare), it inflicts at least a little bit of damage and therefore triggers the hatching reaction instead.

Yes, it's a palette swap of the Arachne, a spider-woman monster. However, the colors chosen for this one (green and brown lower body and a floral blue skin tone) are suggestive of a plant, and the legs kind of look like roots. The Lunar Goddess is both the only monster that can drop a Minerva Bustier (semi-rare) and the only one that can drop Artemis's Bow (rare). The English and EasyType versions also make it the only one to drop Artemis's Arrows, thanks to an inexplicable change that removes them from the drop set shared by the Gloom Wing, Luna Virus, and Black Pudding, though for those monsters the arrows were only a rare drop to begin with. The English and EasyType versions also replace the Lunar Goddess's semi-common Lunar Curtain with another Artemis's Arrow drop, following their usual pattern for dummied items. The arrows are the common item in all versions, which also means Edge can steal them for easy stockpiling.

The Malboro is one of only three monsters in the original Japanese version that can drop a Soma Droplet, which is its rare drop (the other two are the Toady Witch and Dark Magician, both of which have a Soma Droplet as the semi-rare drop and a Ribbon as the rare one). As the Soma Droplet and the semi-common Bacchus's Wine are dummied out in the English and EasyType versions, both are replaced with the same item as the semi-rare drop, Yoichi's Arrows. Appropriately, the Malboro's common drop in all three versions is a Panacea (Heal).

Though the Silver Dragon can drop some rather nice items in the original Japanese version (Stardust, Luminous Curtain, Lunar Curtain, and Silver Apple), the only thing it can drop in the English version is the are-you-kidding-me Cure1 (Potion). The EasyType at least has the decency to use a Tome of Secret Arts for the semi-rare and rare drops, though it, too, replaces the common and semi-common ones with lowly Potions.

Like the Toady Witch, the Dark Magician can potentially drop a Soma Droplet (or a Gold Apple in the EasyType, but just a Life (Phoenix Tail) in the English version), or, if you're really lucky, a Ribbon. The semi-common Ether Dry (Ether2) isn't bad either, it's just not in the same league.

The EasyType significantly modifies Dark Bahamut, rewriting the combat script and adding Absorption of Flame, Ice, and Thunder. The most beneficial change is that the initial Megaflare will come after a countdown instead of immediately after combat begins. Also noteworthy is that it changes his script when under Reflect status to Flare, Poison, Flare instead of Flare, Flare, Flare, no action. One more significant alteration is that he'll counter Summon magic with Hurricane (but is it the single-target or multi-target one?) instead of a weaker Megaflare.

The EasyType modifies the combat script to alternate between Bio and regular attacks, instead of always attacking.

Though the original Japanese version makes these give up Stardust for half their drops (common drop) and Lunar Curtains for the other half (semi-common, semi-rare, and rare), the English version turns them all into Cure2 (High Potion). The EasyType also replaces the common and semi-common drops with High Potions, but uses a Tome of Secret Arts for the semi-rare and rare drops.

Seems to blend "tidal" with "Leviathan".

The EasyType makes Tidaliathan Very weak against Thunder. It also switches around the counterattacks, making Thunder magic prompt Blaze (Blue-White Flame) instead of Whirl, and other summon magic and standard magic provoke Greater Tsunami instead of Blaze.

The EasyType overhauls the Blue Dragon, removing every absorption except Thunder and making it Very weak against Flame and Ice. The combat script is also changed, using Lightning Flash instead of Snowstorm during regular actions, and Thunder 3 (Thundaga) as a counter to all magic instead of Snowstorm as a counter to Flame magic only. On that note, never try to kill a Blue Dragon with fire in the original version of the game.

Though it's one of the game's orneriest enemies, the Blue Dragon does at least have good drops, consisting of a common White Fang (changed to a High Potion (Cure2) in the English and EasyType versions), a semi-common Shuriken, a semi-rare Dragon's Whisker (the only source of this weapon), and a rare Wyvern Spear (the less common of two possible sources).

The Gold Dragon's drops are gutted in the English version, going from the original Wrath of Zeus, Wrath of the Gods, Blue Fang, Silver Apple combination to nothing but Cure1 (Potion). The EasyType shows somewhat more sense, keeping the rare Silver Apple and replacing the three more common drops with High Potions.

The Thunder Dragon is one of only two enemies that can drop—as the rare item, of course—a Gold Apple. Unless you're playing the English version, in which case all four drops are replaced with lousy Cure1 (Potion). The original version's drops are Wrath of the Gods, Gold Hourglass, Gold Headdress, and Gold Apple, all fairly good items, and even the EasyType has the decency to make the common, semi-common, and semi-rare items X-Potions.

Even better, the Summoners that spawn these will keep replacing them, so you can farm them for items with relative ease.

The EasyType overhauls the White Dragon, removing every absorption except Ice and making it Very weak against Flame and Thunder. The combat script is also changed, cycling between Battle, Snowstorm, and Hurricane (Maelstrom) instead of attacking for four turns and only then using Maelstrom, and countering summon magic with Entangle (inflicts Paralysis) instead of Earthquake. The other counterattacks are unaffected.

The EasyType rewrites the Red Dragon's combat script, generally making it more aggressive, except, oddly, for reacting to summon magic by using Needle against a monster.

Though it's one of the game's orneriest enemies, the Red Dragon does at least have good drops, consisting of a common Red Fang (FireBomb) even in the English and EasyType versions (though this may be nothing more than an oversight), a semi-common Dragon Bracer, a semi-rare Wyvern Spear (the more common of two possible sources), and a rare Crystal Ring (the only source of these).

In both the original Japanese version and the English version, the Behemoth can drop a Twisted Headband (Headband), a Power Wrist (Strength), an Empowering Suit (Power), or an Avenger (otherwise only found in a chest), in order from most to least common. The EasyType makes a unique change, removing the Twisted Headband, shifting the Power Wrist and Empowering Suit into the next more common slot, and adding a Silver Apple as the semi-rare drop. Rather peculiar, but not unwelcome.

Scarmiglione counters Flame magic with Curse Song and special dialog in the original Japanese version of the game. This counterattack is removed in both the English version and the EasyType.

The EasyType adds the Boss flag to Calca. Given that Brina already has it, this was probably an oversight in the original version.

The EasyType gives Calcabrina a weakness to Flame and makes it unable to split back up into Calcas and Brinas.

The EasyType tweaks his combat script by swapping the order of Laser and Flamethrower, and tacking on an additional turn where he uses Beam twice.

* Rubicante switches between Very weak against Ice and Absorbing Ice during the course of the battle as he opens and closes his cloak. In what is likely an oversight, those changes overwrite his original elemental properties, so he no longer absorbs or even resists Flame afterward.

This enemy is used both for the regular battle and for the scripted battle with Edge.

In the original Japanese version, Rubicante reacts to summon magic by casting Blizzara on himself. The EasyType and English versions remove this.

Scarmiglione and Rubicante. The Scarmiglione phase is Undead and Very weak against Flame, but Absorbs all other elements (even Projectile and, confusingly, Holy), while the Rubicante phase is a Mage and Very weak against Ice, but Absorbs all other elements (even Projectile).

Cagnazzo and Barbariccia. The Cagnazzo phase is Very weak against Thunder, but Absorbs all other elements (even Projectile), while the Barbariccia phase is weak against Holy (and Thunder, but apparently only because Cagnazzo's weakness isn't cleared properly).

The EasyType modifies Barbariccia's behavior slightly, adding an extra turn of Fingertip between two rounds of normal attacks.

That bizarre mix of elemental defenses means Holy magic (of which none is available at the time) will be absorbed, while Holy physical attacks (like Paladin Cecil's starting sword) will have quadrupled attack power.

For Gilbert's solo battle.

The EasyType changes the name to すなおとこ (砂男, Sand Man), normally its name for the Desert Sahagin.

The invincible version, including the scene where everyone praying revitalizes the party. The opponent changes to enemy #201, and the real battle begins, when this one is hit by Dark magic from Paladin Cecil—in other words, when he uses the Crystal.

Zeromus has Dark Matter for all drops in the original Japanese version. Though he doesn't actually drop anything, Edge can still steal it. However, the item is simply a novelty and does nothing. The English and EasyType versions replace them with Elixirs.

The final battle.

The EasyType does a number of strange things to Zeromus, starting with replacing the graphic (the alternate graphic is seen in some remakes as optional boss Zeromus EG; EG = イージー = easy). Parts of the combat script are also significantly different. For one thing, the script (in both versions) frequently adjusts Zeromus's magic power before using magic. The EasyType consistently uses lower values, reducing the number of hits by up to three, depending on the spell.

During the first phase, EasyType Zeromus uses Death Sentence against a single character on his ninth turn after the initial Big Bang, instead of casting Bio on all characters as he does in the original version. He also counters any summon magic used during this phase with Embrace (heals but petrifies) instead of Flare. The second phase is no different from usual, except that he moves on to the third and final phase sooner, once under 17,000 hit points rather than the usual 12,000.

EasyType Zeromus begins the third phase by using Death Sentence on all characters. He then goes into the usual pattern of casting Meteor every other turn. Unlike his other attacks, this is not weakened in the EasyType, largely because it only gets one hit to begin with—it can't get any weaker. Death Sentence may very well be a larger problem, though; unless you have a tactic for dealing with it, you'll need to finish him off quickly.

The EasyType changes the name to ヘルコンドル (Hell Condor), as it does for the standard Zuu.

The EasyType changes the name to スカルナイト (Skull Knight), replacing the ン (n) with an イ (i). Although the original name could just be a typo, kahran042 has pointed out a more likely explanation. This particular enemy only appears in the first battle against Scarmiglione (スカルミリョーネ), so the スカル (SUKARU) probably stands for that rather than meaning "skull". Similarly, a search for other things with ナント (NANTO) in them on this page finds only the Revenant (レブナント), another zombie-type enemy that also appears on Ordeal Mountain and even uses the same palette as this monster. Given all that, I consider it highly likely that the name just comes from smashing Scarmiglione and Revenant together.

迎撃システム. Note that while 迎撃 (geigeki) does involve attacking, it's in the sense of fending off an incoming threat.

Versus Fusuya and Golubaeser.

The combat script adds further messages after he scans himself, indicating that he's also weak against all-nighters, weak against girls with glasses, and just plain weak.

The EasyType changes the name to まもののたまご (魔物の卵, Monster Egg).

Mystereggs hatch into other monsters after taking damage, but remain dormant until then. Other than name and appearance, they're whatever monster they hatch into all along, and have the corresponding defenses, items to steal, and so on.

Also, it turns out that hatching is functionally a monster skill used as a counterattack. If the monster is vulnerable to Pig or Toad status, applying one of those will disable the skill, preventing it from hatching and leaving it helpless. Yet another unexpected use for that Transformation Rod!
