Long ago, Midoriko, locked in a stalemate battle with countless youkai for days, sealed their souls within her own with the last of her power, and ejected them all in the form of the jewel known as the Shikon no Tama.
The anime briefly shows a Kirara-like creature alongside Midoriko.
Current status
Long dead, but remains locked in perpetual combat with the youkai within the Shikon no Tama. Recently, the remnants of Midoriko's soul joined with Kikyou in order to destroy Naraku and do something about the jewel.
