Miscellaneous text and attempted translations from...

Final Fantasy VI

This is basically the storage bin for stuff that I've done something with, but that doesn't belong with anything else that I've gotten to so far.

Unsorted Combat Text

Combat dialog and other messages as retrieved from several text dumps. Lines that actually appear, or at least seem related to existing battles, have been moved to the appropriate sections. I'm fairly certain that everything left is either too generic to be of interest or is never used at all.

...okay, what ABOUT your mission?

みちづれだー! A fellow traveler! A fellow traveler!

It's possible this line was supposed to go with the one above, resulting in something more like: "My mission... is to take you with me!" (to death, etc.)

最近、俺のニセモノが
宝をあらしているようだけど

Sounds like an impostor of me's

be getting fooled!
Treasures, you see, come to you
themselves if you just wait.
Now, guess I'll get this started.
Someone posing as me has
been stealing treasures!
Beware of being tricked!
Remember, rewards come to
unavaricious people.
Well, let's begin!

Siegfried says something similar as an NPC in the coliseum, but never in battle.

Unused line. Looks like either a rival or an old instructor.

He's... he's coming...
We're going to be under his control...
He's...
coming to take control of us!

Could be he/she/it and we/I/you/etc. Can't tell without more context.

A frightened or startled feminine shriek.

ああ、私の存在が…消えてしまう… Aah, my existence... is fading away... Ack! My body's disappearing!

FFX "Song of Prayer" ("Hymn of the Fayth")

I can't take credit for figuring this out... I saw the explanation somewhere else on the web years ago and wrote it down, and now I can't remember where. I also forget why I put it here, but here it is...

Anyway...

じゅ

Read this first part left to right, one row at a time from top to bottom (English order), for what you actually hear in the game: i e yu i / no bo me no / re n mi ri / yo ju yo go. To get the meaning, read from top to bottom, one column at a time from right to left (traditional Japanese order): inori go / yume miyo / ebon ju / inore yo.

Written with kanji and katakana where appropriate, that's 祈り子 夢見よ エボンジュ 祈れよ. Using the NA version terminology, that's: Fayth (literally translated "those who pray"), dream. Yu-Yevon, pray.

たまえ

Do the same here. What you actually hear in the game: ha sa te ka na e ku tamae. The meaning: sakae tamae hatenaku.

Written with kanji where appropriate, that's 栄え給え 果てなく. Meaning: Eternally prosper.
