カレーのちライス [Rice After Curry]

Hey, it's a song about food. But is it really? Take a closer look at some of the lyrics...

Curry is a spicy dish originating in southern Asia. The term カレー (KAREE) typically refers to カレーライス (KAREE RAISU, curry rice) when not otherwise specified (the other common forms of curry in Japan are curry udon and curry bread), which is simply curry with white rice, eaten with a spoon rather than chopsticks. The roux, mentioned in the song below, is the sauce portion of the curry, which contains all the hot flavor—in other words, the part that makes it curry. Japanese curry typically has onion, carrot, potato, and either pork, beef, or chicken added to the roux to form the complete dish.

All exclamation points in the booklet are tilted forward (this way: / ), but I'm not aware of any character entity that looks like that in any standard font, and I'm not going to make a custom image just for this.

1 中辛 (chuukara) means a moderate level of piquancy. There are also 大辛 (ookara) and 小辛 (kogara), which correspond to "hot" and "mild" respectively.

2 This may not be related, but apparently there's a custom of giving silver spoons for luck when a child is born.
